As I prepare to release my most recent book, ‘Dismissed…But Still Relevant’, I have been reflecting on the fact that there are so many different ways we can be dismissed and often not even know it. The most obvious is when we are dismissed physically…out of relationships with people, places and/or things, but we can also be dismissed emotionally and mentally. Being dismissed can be based on so many things, not just behaviors, but on the way we look or don’t look…what we have or don’t have…our education or lack of…what family we come from, broken home or not…the church we attend or if we don’t…the job that we have or don’t have…the list is endless. We can be dismissed if we are female or not…if we are big or small…if we are ill, physically, mentally or emotionally…whether we grew up in the city or the country…north, south, east or west side of town. We can be dismissed based on our religious beliefs…our morals…our values…our color-full or color-less skin. We can be dismissed based on perception…not reality. No matter who…people, places and/or things…how many times or how many ways we are dismissed on this journey through life…it only matters if we allow it to. Continue to look up, as my uncle would say…and know that…at times we may be dismissed…but we are still relevant…not because we say so…but because God says so…and so it is…we have purpose…we are

relevant…all the days of our lives…no matter what is happening in the natural.
