Was It A Test...Or Just A Reminder?

A little boy walks up to a woman with a mask on…protecting herself from the elements…he has tears streaming down his face as he begs her to “please, please help us”. She could feel his pain. At that moment…nothing else mattered, except helping this little boy. His little brother was having a behavioral issue and their caretaker was having some difficulty getting it under control. For whatever reason, this little boy was comfortable enough to walk up to this stranger and ask for help. Little did he know that the woman that he asked had been a Behaviorist for many years. The woman could feel the transformation into Behaviorist mode...in a split second...reaching back and pulling out some tools that had been placed in her long ago…God uses it all. After the crisis was no longer a crisis and both boys and their caretaker were all smiles…off they went to the pool…that was the crisis…the little one wasn’t cooperating and as long as he was refusing to do what he was told and get in the car…his big brother couldn’t get to the pool.
As I reflected on the situation, after the fact, I had a sense of gratitude…that God had equipped me with something that I could bless someone else with. Seeing the smiles on all of their faces was the greatest gift on what was a tough day. Helping others brings me great joy. No matter what is happening in our lives…we have something that we can give to another to make a difference in theirs. I don’t know if I will ever see that family again…but I don’t believe that that little boy will ever forget that someone took the time to recognize and acknowledge his tears, listen to what he had to say and chose to do what she could to do what he asked…help him. I pray that he got to go to the pool and had an absolutely wonderful time. God blesses people through people…and if that was a test…I certainly hope I passed…
