We Couldn't Have Known...And If We Did...

We couldn’t have known and if we did…what would we have done? If you had known the terrain ahead was rocky and there was stormy weather ahead…what would you do? Most of us would stay home and wait for it to pass or go another route. Maybe that’s why God can’t trust us with the details of what lies ahead. Had I known some things, I’m sure I would have been searching out some other options. I didn’t know the weather forecast that lie ahead in my life, so turning around or going another way, simply wasn’t an option...I had to keep moving through it. Moving through stormy weather isn’t for the faint hearted and especially when you have others depending on you, giving up isn’t an option. It takes courage to keep moving and faith to believe that on the other side of that storm is a beautiful rainbow with clear and sunny skies. You learn some things when you go through a storm…you learn how strong you are or aren’t…you learn how much faith you do or don’t have…you learn who is or isn’t with you. If you allow God to…He’ll make you over, not after, but during the storm. He’ll strip you of your rain gear and equip you with His weather proof armor…His protection…no matter what the weather forecast or weather conditions. I thank God for the storms that I didn’t see coming. I believe that it means that He trusted and knew me well enough to know that…although I may have thought that I couldn’t make it through…He knew that I could. And for whatever the reason, He allowed me to go through that particular storm at that particular time. Some of the things that we go through are certainly consequences, but others are to grow and prepare us for His assignment for our lives. Sometimes we may be going through the difficulty, but the lesson may be for someone else or a cause that’s bigger than us. When we trust God and allow Him to grow our spirituality through the storm…we come out much stronger than when we went in, with determination to live out our purpose. Storms…I wouldn’t want to go through them…but if it’s what I had to do to have experienced the spiritual growth and feel the peace that I feel right now…all I can say is ‘Thank you, Lord’.
