Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is a debilitating and isolating disease that leaves many homeless and without hope. Unable to work, attend church or engage in activities with family and friends without suffering the consequences, creates a 'new' normal that is difficult for many to handle.

Because of our sensitivities, we need clean air, environmentally safe housing, preservative/pesticide-free food and non-public transportation to live as healthy as possible. The most effective treatment is avoidance of chemicals...some we can smell and some we can't...but our systems let us know which chemicals they cannot function in the presence of, even at the lowest ppm levels deamed safe for the masses. It gets our attention subtly or swiftly.

Emergency room visits and routine trips to the doctor for preventive care and procedures that are meant to save lives, can take ours, if the medical caretakers and/or our loved ones aren't knowledgeable about our 'canary' status and what our systems can and cannot tolerate.

I guess it's only possible for me and God to know the extent of the miracle that He has performed in my life while figuring out and surviving my 'new' normal. I give Him the praise for it all. The existance of these books...is a miracle, because they where created during my 'new' normal.

I will use my platform, from time to time, to share a glimpse into the world of a population that is unfamiliar, but on the rise because of the chemically saturated world that we live in.

Before MCS came into my life I, like many, had no clue how saturated we are with chemicals...my hair is short because I can't put anything in it...I can only eat whole foods, because preservatives are my enemy and for goodness sakes...what in the world are those dryer sheets made of. :)

That's it for today's lesson. :) Please see the link below for more information on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity...an illness we all need to know more about. Those in my life who try to understand, have kept me standing...
