There are so many prayers that we have prayed…from then until now…
Having no idea what they really meant…
But time…by and by…helps us to understand the deeper meaning…
We don’t really understand the depth of thanking God for a roof over our heads…
Until we experience the loss or potential loss of it…
We don’t really understand our gratitude for having food to eat…
Until there is none or barely enough…
We may not really understand how blessed we are to know where our children are…
Until we are reminded that history can repeat itself…if we let it…
Some of us may not realize how much we love another…until they are no more…
We may not even understand the prayer that we always pray asking God for protection…
From dangers that we see and those that we don’t…until it’s obvious the He did…
Sometimes we think that we are full of a whole lot of faith…
To find that the faith that we thought we had, in the midst of our storms…isn’t sufficient…
Even a little bit of faith, though, can keep us afloat…
Until we’re strong enough to swim in and out of the deep end…
There was a time when waking up in the morning…was an expectation…taken for granted…
But as time passes…so do experiences…and a deeper understanding of how this works…
And if we allow it to…wisdom humbles us and teaches us a thing or two…
Had it not been for losses or near losses…
Would we really appreciate what we have…at a deeper level…
I don’t think so…
And perhaps that’s why there has to be some level of seasonal trial and tribulation in our lives…
A reminder that it didn’t have to be and for some it’s not…
Each passing day…hopefully…helps us to become better…not bitter…
More gratitude…compassion…thanksgiving…love…and forgiveness…
With the understanding that…nothing has to be…but thank God for what is…
And for that that isn’t…hopefully…we’ve learned to trust God at a level that we never have…
We seem to handle life better…the more we learn about it…
But most importantly…the more we learn about us…and the One who created us…
Becoming a better version of ourselves today…than we were yesterday…last month…last year… Freely express your gratitude today in all that you say and do…
Don’t take it for granted…if you’re free to do so…
