Thank God for common sense…

A cousin once told me that what’s common for some…

Isn’t common for all

She was so on point in her wisdom…

As she most often is

Her point makes sense and…

Brings the ‘aha’ to many wonderings

I am so grateful for what some of us call ‘discernment’…

And what others of us call ‘that gut feeling’…

Or the sense of ‘something said’…

To know where truth separates from that…that is not

Just because one doesn’t say so…

Doesn’t mean they don’t…know so…

When confidence in the power of persuasion becomes so confident…

That the expectation is that…

The masses will believe words without pillars…

To support them…just because one says so…

Runs in the opposite direction of…

The common sense some of us were reared with…

And the discernment others of us have been gifted

Hear the words…trust them, if you choose…

But the common sense piece…says…

Verify that what you hear is true…

Confirm it…if you can…

And if you can’t…park it…

Don’t spread it…pray…

Ask for wisdom…and guidance…

And that God would have mercy on the one…

Who believes and is counting on the fact that…we…

Don’t have common sense…discernment…

A ‘gut feeling’…or a ‘something said’…

To know when what we are being told…

Is a picture that is being painted…

Altered for the benefit of someone…that is not us

Thank God for common sense…

We don’t always say so…but we know better…
