Who are you...and what do you stand for

Are you a soloist…band member…or both

When we start out in life…

Some of us seem to come here knowing our purpose…

And how to use our instruments

It’s obvious to us, but may…or may not be to others

Some of us have no clue why we’re here…

It’s not obvious to us…but is to others

We can live our lifetime seeking and fulfilling our own desires…

That may align with our real purpose…come close…

Or we may be in the wrong band…playing the wrong instrument

Those of us who were in a marching band…

Know how critical it is to be in the position assigned to you…

Marching out the steps in the pattern assigned to you…

Playing the music on the instrument assigned to you

No matter how hot or cold it is…sunshine or rain…

We know the pressure and joy of staying in sync…in step…and in tune

We understand that if we don’t learn the steps or the music…

It’s impact doesn’t just affect us…as an individual…

But just one misstep…or one wrong note…

At best…creates an uncomfortable moment in a performance…

At worst…can lose a competition…for an entire band

Study and practice the steps…

Study and practice the music…

Know your instrument…and when to play it…

Solo…loud and proud…or

In sync…playing your part…

But in tune with a multitude of other instruments…

All playing their part…filling the air…together…

With beautiful melodious music

And if we miss a step or a note…

Thank God for grace and mercy…

Allow it to flow through you…to others who may miss a step…

Pick up the wrong instrument…or play the wrong note

Keep practicing…until you learn the right steps…and the right notes…
