Don’t let emotion speak for you…you speak for it

In one of my writings…I write about emotion speaking for us

Sometimes we need to speak with emotion…

But we shouldn’t allow it to speak without our permission…

Not until we’ve given great thought to what it will say and…

How it will affect our right now…tomorrow…and beyond

Not just it’s affect on us…but those connected to us…

And many generations to come

Because we know that words have power…

And they can travel to places unknown…

We can’t give emotion the power to create the narrative

Because words have legs…

If the words that create the messaging…

Is not controlled by thought, prayer…

And sometimes...just plain old common sense…

Then the emotion may send a message…

That can’t be unsent or deleted or even amended

So what do we do when we become emotional…

Which is natural…but power over it…takes some work

Messages driven by the right kind of emotion can be powerful

Messages driven by the wrong kind of emotion can be powerful

There is great responsibility that comes with…

The reality of whether emotion uses us…or we use it

And if we use it…is it for good…or not so much…

It matters…because the consequences will be felt for generations

At the end of the day what’s in our hearts can’t be hidden…

It eventually comes out…will it help or hurt…is the question

We pay a lot of attention to the behaviors of another…

But God looks at our hearts…our intent

When emotion speaks…what comes out of our mouths…

Is often…what’s in our hearts and we can’t take it back…

Even when based on a temporary hurt

So that you don’t have to try…

Don’t let emotion speak for you…you speak for it...
