As It Flows From The Heart of Veronique…She didn’t know… is the latest of my titles and start of a series. It’s a look back at my journey through the eyes of a character that I’ve named Veronique. I chose that name because growing up…I did not feel unique in any way. Well…my arms were uniquely long, but that was about it. At least, that was all that I could see through my eyes, at the time. But oh how grateful I am…that I am still here and can look back and now see what I couldn’t see before. I had the heart of a behaviorist long before the formal training. My passion for poetry, I now know, wasn’t just a hobby.
Publishing my writings was not something I ever aspired to do, but it has become clear to me, that it is something that I was called to do…the reason I was created…my purpose. I have found that when you reach the top of the mountain…chronologically…you finally have a chance to glance back to see the trail that you’ve travelled…some paths crossed with others for a time, others separated and may or may not have reconnected along the way.
You can see that some paths were dead-ends and you were given a choice…sit there on the dead-end pathway…or double back and take a different way to get to where you are supposed to be. When you take a moment to look back…you can see those who…no matter what path we took…they were right there…watching over us…even when we couldn’t see or hear them, at the time.
God gives us free-will, we get to decide if we sit and settle…or keep it moving, no matter how long or how many detours. At the same time, He allows us to choose which path we will take. It’s what we do or don’t do, in spite of circumstances, that determine if we make it up that mountain or not.
In glancing back, we find that some times we’ve travelled in a pack, with lots of people around us and other times, we see that we separated from the group and found ourselves travelling alone, those are opportunities to focus, find out who we really are as we grow…spiritually…stronger…wiser and in determination to get to where we are supposed to be, positioning ourselves to do what we were created to do. The paths of some, have run parallel to ours, an ever present source of inspiration.
When you reach the top of the mountain and you’re not in the situation, the perspective of what was going on and why, sometimes, becomes clear and then you realize that…if not for that…then this would not be…that it’s all a part of a formula for your success to live on and with purpose. And so it is…our passion + our struggles = our purpose.
I dedicate the ‘As It Flows From The Heart Of Veronique’ series of writings to all of the young people that have crossed my path and those that never will. My prayer is that for every young person that needs encouragement and reassurance that whatever ‘what in the world’ moment or series of moments that they are going through…these messages of healing and inspiration will meet them at their point of need and carry them to the top of the mountain that has their name on it…so that they can hang their flag as a reminder to those who are still on the climb…that somebody else made it and if they keep moving and keep looking up…they will too. Be your unique self…that’s where you’ll find your joy…peace…and purpose.
