Leave it right here…in 2021!
It’s the end of a year that has gone by pretty quickly…in some ways
And not quick enough in others
It’s the time of year that I’ve learned to reflect…
What worked and what didn’t
What do I need to do differently
Back in the day, I focused on external things like…
Exercising more or during the baby making years…losing weight
Educational or vocational goals also came into play
But as the years continue to roll in and roll by…
My focus has become on things more internal…
Honestly, more spiritual…more purposeful...more peaceful
What am I doing vs what am I supposed to be doing
If you’ve been reading my blog, then you know my story
I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of time…thinking that I wasn’t
But when I feel that way, God reminds me that no time is wasted…
If I let Him, He can use it all for His good, which always works for mine
I believe that His Word is true and I see evidence of it on a daily basis
So, this is that time of year…as it comes to a close
To acknowledge His truth and that it’s different from my truth
Be honest with myself, about myself and where I’ve come up short
Figure out what I need or need to do…to fill in the gap
Then end the year, the way I want to start the new year
Taking care of my external self is still a priority…
But taking care of my internal self is even moreso…
At the end of the day, who we are on the inside…
Will far outweigh…what we’ve done on the outside
It’s that time…heart cleansing time…to let some things go
Put pen to paper and shred it if you need to…
When we purge toxic thoughts...
All of that extra emotion that goes with it...goes with it
Leave the emotional baggage that weighed you down in 2021…in 2021
And remember that no person, place or thing can affect our spirit...
Without our permission...except The One who created us
Don't let anyone or anything take you out of your character
Put up guardrails where you need to…
But Forgive as much as you can…so you can…Love as much as you can
Easier said than done…we’ll talk about that next time…
